The Republic of Uzbekistan gained independence in 1991, after being part of the former Soviet Union since 1924, and it has begun its transition to a market economy. Uzbekistan is a presidential republic, and conducts presidential and parliamentary elections on a regulari basis.
Uzbekistan is a doubly landlocked country located in Central Asia that borders the countries of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Uzbekistan has a varied landscape that includes a rolling sandy desert, mountains along the border with Tajikistan, and the Aral Sea in the west. The government system is a republic under authoritarian presidential rule, with little power outside the executive branch; the chief of state is the president, and the head of government is the prime minister.
Fergana Medical Institute of Public
Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health is a renowned university in Uzbekistan, founded in 1930 in Fergana city. Initially established as a medical center, it attained the status of Fergana State University in 1991 by an executive order of the cabinet ministers. Since then, it has undergone several structural changes. Presently, it boasts 147 professors across 19 departments, comprising Ph.D. scholars, experienced doctors, and associate professors.
The institute offers various faculties, including General Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Higher Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, among others. Currently, around 250 students from countries like India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Russia, and Nigeria study there, fostering a diverse learning environment.
The Lecture Halls and Rooms are architecturally and aesthetically well-designed, providing ample ventilation and specially designed furniture for student comfort.
Multimedia overhead projectors and LCD projectors supplement traditional blackboards, enriching the teaching-learning process. Additionally, the faculty utilizes learner-centered methodologies like group discussions, quiz sessions, debates, and other interactive modules, along with various audio-visual aids.
FMIPH’s library is a top reference center in medical sciences in Uzbekistan, housing a vast collection of books, bound journals, theses, and online resources. Supported by a large, well-ventilated reading room, it serves as the main learning resource center of the institute.

Infrastructure
In FMIPH, Lecture Hall and Rooms are architecturally and aesthetically well designed and are well ventilated. The furniture in the rooms is specially designed for comfort sitting of the students. In addition to the traditional blackboards, to make the teaching-learning process multidimensional, multimedia over-head projectors and LCD projectors are used. Moreover, the faculty adopts not simply the traditional lecture methodology, but also holds group discussion, quiz session, debates and other learner-centered modules. Various other audiovisual aids are also used to enrich the teaching learning
The goal of the Library is to provide appropriate scientific teaching and methodical manuals and other literature in order to raise and deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge of students and academic personnel and of invited teachers.
Lab
The university features fully utilized, air-conditioned laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for conducting clinical experiments aimed at gathering essential information about patient health to assist in diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention.
Additionally, these laboratories are outfitted with various manikins, also referred to as virtual patients, which mimic human weight distribution. Within our lab, we offer manikins tailored for essential skills including CPR, intramuscular injection, catheterization, and suturing procedures. Hands-on training sessions are organized for students year-round to facilitate practical learning experiences.
Hostel
FMIPH offers separate hostel accommodations for both male and female students. Each hostel, boasting a capacity of 1500 beds, is furnished with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and homely stay. Students opting for hostel accommodation are required to adhere to the hostel’s norms and may be subject to additional charges for availing these facilities.
Library
The Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIOPH) library stands as a premier reference library and information center in Uzbekistan for medical sciences. It houses an extensive collection of books, bound journals, theses, and online journals in the medical field. Supported by a spacious and well-ventilated reading room, this library serves as the primary learning resource center of the Institute.
